We Are More Than Our Age

“When you become comfortable with uncertainty, infinite possibilities open up in your life.” Eckhart Tolle

I love the different responses shared on my survey to know clearly how I can focus and help support you to live full out whether you are in your 60s, 70s, 80s or beyond.

Nearly 80% said you “didn’t know how to get started doing what you love” for these next decades. I want to reassure you, whatever you want you can have. And, I can help spark some ideas, help you work through your mindset and help you design plans to make it happen.

I’ll be sharing more ideas and strategies through my blogs and my monthly calls.

Remember age is a mindset. You are more than your age.

Making your dreams a reality depends on the thoughts you are thinking and the conscious choices you are making.

It’s about becoming awake. Knowing what you want and deciding you will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

You have the gifts of a lifetime of experiences and wisdom that you can share and integrate into whatever you want to do.

You have the power to do whatever you want and be whoever you want.

Begin by noticing the way you are feeling about your life – are you old, sitting around or are you alive, excited about what’s next? It makes a difference… Even if you don’t know what it is, yet.

I was listening to a Deepak Chopra session. There was a great example of how what happens to or for you is about the feelings you have as you approach the situation. For example, think about being at the beach. Do you feel irritated, agitated, see it as too crowded, too hot? Or, do you feel like it’s a time to be peaceful, relaxed and love listening to the waves? Your choice.

Nothing about the situation, space or time changes. Your feelings direct how you will experience “the beach,” or whatever you are facing.

Begin taking notice. As you redefine who you are in this next chapter of your life, your mindset is the most important thing to begin working on. Think about what you would like to do or be. Find others doing those things or something similar. Get excited – even though you might be afraid and uncertain.

Fears are a normal part of life. You are more than your fears. Decide you want more joy and fulfillment in spite of the fears you will face as you reimagine what is possible for you in this fourth quarter of life.

Ask yourself if you are letting fear rob you of the life you want.

As Nelson Mandela says, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” Feel the fear, and keep on moving through it. Take baby steps to keep moving forward. Each step when you feel the fear, it will loosen its power over you. Use the fear to propel you. Fear wants to keep you safe. There are strategies and tools to help you overcome your fear. Reach out and ask for help so you can see the possibilities of having what you want.

Don’t let the fear of uncertainty or feeling not good enough hold you back.

I know first hand how scary it is to go from being a leader in my field to not having a clue of how to become an entrepreneur and create an online business. I’ve struggled many times when new things come up, like learning new technologies. But, my mission and desire to help others thrive as we grow older have been my inspiration and motivation to keep on going. I’ve learned so much.

Follow your heart and inspiration. Be curious.

It’s okay to not know. Seek guidance, however, that is for you. (I’d love to coach you through your thinking and creating. Sign up for a free Discovery session, dottiehager.com)

Ask empowering questions to get you moving.   For instance, I began asking, “How could I create a coaching business and have coaching clients?”   Then, I received an email about joining a tele-summit to gain coaching clients and grow my business. I had no idea what that was or what they were talking about. BUT, I followed it and the next, and next things that popped up. I was guided. After a few years, I feel like I have a foundation of what it takes and am living it today in its infancy.

Don’t let your monkey mind keep you thinking you are too old to start again or that you don’t have anything to offer.

As Mia Hewett states, “Think mindset, then skill set and results. If not in the right mindset, you won’t be taking the right steps.”

Don’t let your age hold you back.
