What is Your Heart and Soul Calling You To Do In Retirement?

“The achievement of anything that you desire must be considered success, whether it is a trophy or money or relationships or things. But if you will let your standard of success be your achievement of joy—everything else will fall easily into place. For in the finding of joy, you are finding vibrational alignment with the resources of the Universe.” Abraham

Retirement allows you to go deeper and search your soul for what you want to do or would love to do, but for some reason haven’t done.

What is the outcome you really, really, really want? Is it living a meaningful life, living healthy, or being a role model for your grandkids?

What’s driving your life?

Remember, God can only do for you what God can do through you. Unless you open up and honor your passions, gifts, experience and wisdom, others will miss out on what you have to offer.

Life is based on your values and beliefs. Values exist to show you the inner desires of your heart.

Your values show what’s most important to you.

Your values determine your direction.

What are your core values? For me, it’s about joy, freedom, love, excellence, and supporting others.

This is so important because when you are aligned with your values, you can shine. Just like Hobby Lobby, Chick Fil La – they don’t open on Sundays. They want their families to have time together and time to worship. Tom’s shoes give a pair of shoes to needy kids when you purchase one. Whole Foods sells only healthy foods and products. When they realized it was too expensive for some, they created their brand 365 so more people have the opportunity to buy healthy groceries and products.

As you think about retirement, what are your must have values to be happy and fulfilled? If it’s loyalty, fun, generosity, freedom and ambition, your life’s activities need to be aligned with those values. When your life is in alignment with your values, you feel better about life.

What do you stand for? What’s calling you? How do you know?

What do you value the most?

What do you love to do?

What comes easily to you?

In Jim Collins’ book, “Good To Great,” he talks about the Hedgehog Concept. You have 3 concentric circles — the first is what you LOVE to do, the second represents what you are GREAT at, and the third circle represents SERVICE. That’s how you can bring what you love and are great at to the world.

It helps you see clearly what your life work is, what your values are.

You realize how all of your life comes together and how you can make a difference.   You see yourself come to life.

So, imagine your three concentric circles. The magic circles of purpose-driven greatness.

Now, what steps do you need to do to align your life with these circles and your values?

If you don’t take the time to name them and align your life with them, you feel stress, anger, resentment, depression. As Abraham Maslow says, “If you deliberately plan on being less than you’re capable of being then I warn you that you’ll be unhappy the rest of your life.”

This is your call. Not what job are you going to, but what are you being pulled to do to serve your purpose, that’s in your circles.

The good part about being in the second act of your life, the time IS now. No more putting off living the life your soul is yearning to live.

The universe works through people. Today is the day for YOU to answer the call.

You have insight and unique gifts to give that only come from your perspective of the world. People are waiting for you. You have an obligation and responsibility to serve in a way only you can.
