Tell me if this sounds familiar:
- Even though you enjoy time with your grandkids, hiking/skiing/playing golf or tennis, and traveling all over the world, you still feel empty, like something meaningful is missing from your life.
- You fill your day with errands and activities, then watch it dwindle away without any real sense of satisfaction or accomplishment.
- You lie awake at night and a little voice whispers, “Your time is running out.”
Secretly, you are afraid that you’ll die with music still in your heart.
Fellow Boomer, it’s not too late.
I’ve been where you are, and I’m living proof that you can live your retirement in a vibrant, healthy and fulfilling way.
You CAN use this time to build a lifestyle business, write your memoir, learn to skydive, climb Machu Picchu, paint your masterpiece, or achieve ANYTHING on your bucket list.
So if you want to:
- Remove the obstacles that stand between you and your dreams
- Let go of your old stories and perceptions about aging
- Envision what’s possible and build an actionable plan to get there
- Get inspired to tackle your bucket list and build your legacy
Then you and I are meant to be!
I’m Dottie Hager, master of personal development, lover of learning, and founder of Thriving in UnRetirement. I’m on a mission to help Baby Boomers in transition plan the most creative, fulfilling chapter of their lives.
When we work together, you get the inspiration, roadmap, and support network you need to create your legacy.
For the last few years, I’ve helped clients like you get clear on their dreams and use my practical guidance to launch dream businesses, write their first books, and transform broken relationships into joyful ones.
I’m an actual Baby Boomer living and breathing these ideas. And trust me: your potential is limitless.
The problem is our cultural norms. Even though millions of Baby Boomers are entering this next chapter, our models are antiquated and dismal.
It’s time to fire up the Boomer rebel spirit. It’s time for us to achieve our dreams—and transform the way America thinks about aging.
I believe:
- Retirement is not the end of the road but the opening of a new adventure.
- Retiring from work doesn’t mean you have to retire from your purpose.
- With God all things are possible.
- Where there is no vision, people perish.
- If you’re NOT living your full potential, you need to get a coach immediately. Because you create your own reality, and this is your final chance to create your legacy.
You can either see retirement as the end of your life—or the start of a brand new chapter.
Which do you choose?
Chances are, you’ve got 30 years of life ahead of you.

Want to know more about me?
Read on for my story.
I’ve always been driven to help others be all they could be (even when they couldn’t see it for themselves).
Over my 30-year career in education, I championed people expressing their gifts and passions.
I’m an Okie, Sooner girl (by way of a man), an optimist with a practical streak, and a former military brat with wanderlust in my soul.
Early on, as a teacher, I recognized that every person has a unique worldview and a gift to share. Later on, as a principal, adjunct professor, and associate executive director, I saw why some people became successful, happy, and fulfilled—while others fade away.
I thought retirement would be a dream, but when it finally happened, all I felt was loss: lost connections with friends, colleagues and families; lost identity, importance, security, focus and purpose.
I loved that I was finally “DeeDee” with our 4 grandsons. I loved that Bo and I got to travel to fabulous places and explore the world. I’m clearer and clearer about what I will do and won’t do with the rest of my life.
Even though I knew I wanted to work as a personal development coach (I’d been trained as a master integrative coach by Debbie Ford at the John F. Kennedy Institute), my career was who I was for 30 years.
I was considered an expert, I was at the top of my game, I knew the systems and way education worked. I gave it my all, my time, my energy and my soul. It was me.
So now what? Who was I now?
Rather than doubting myself or repressing the tug in my heart, I followed my calling. I simply kept following what I love to do: learn, be curious, have fun, and find people I admire and who can teach me to do what I want even though I’m starting over. I began moving forward, asking for the next step, finding mentors and programs and coaches to guide me.
Slowly, I built my repertoire of tools, including mindset shifts, deep trust in the Universe, and habits for taking action consistently. I created a process that allowed me (and my clients) to feel empowered while navigating transition.
Eventually I learned how to create an online business, and I’ll never forget the joy I felt when I finally understood the lingo and how it all works. I’ll never forget the triumph of building my signature program. And I’ll never forget the pure happiness of helping others find meaning in their own transitions.
Building my legacy makes me feel like a trailblazer all over again. I feel healthy and excited, alive and fulfilled. And if I did it, I KNOW you can too.
You DO have what it takes to live out the music in your heart, and the roadmap to get there is closer than you think.
